It's Raining !

gmaburka

It rained all night and it's still raining here. We won't go to Yarnell today because we were planning to pick blueberries and water everything. Andrew was watering the yard when I talked to him Thursday, so everything should be good over there.
There is a good picture of Teddy on his blog. He can block a doorway when he stretches out.
I read Scott's version of his biopsy...I said "Oh ,Ohh "when I read it. I'm glad it's over. I think it's raining in Nashville today...That won't help the moving in party, but I'm sure they will get it
done.
I went out to lunch with Betty and Glenda yesterday...so much fun...We ate a tiny salad at the Chinzy Rose..It cost $8.00..I was still hungry after I ate so we toured the art gallery which is at the old library building and then we went to the creamery for ice cream. It was good but not as good as the new marble slab at our new shopping center.
We have another new shopping center going up where the old water company building used to be. That's where gpa worked for years. There is a contest to name the new center and we have entered numerous names...
Our friend Bernice, who lives on Curtis went out yesterday morning to walk her two dogs and she was attacked by two boxers. She barely made it home and Tim took her to the emergency room. She has wounds all over with some muscle gone in her arm. She has to have rabies shots and tetanus shots and they have to change the dressing real often to check for infection.

I miss my wild Irish Rose..

She is far away in Limerick ..I hope she is getting a rest in that hotel with the pool and the workout room and all . Paul will be off this Sunday, and I'm sure they will go sightseeing. Paul emailed today that Rose was on a tour with some other folks. There are cliffs and ruins and things to see around there.
They are planning to move to another hotel with internet connections so that she can keep us up to date. We are on our way to visit Andrew. We're taking Kentucky Fried Chicken and a chocolate cake and some green salad. We're going to pick blueberries and check out the garden. Thank goodness we had a good rain last night, so maybe Rose's trees and flowers are okay. Andrew sounded like he would be glad to see us. He's probably in bed asleep when we get there, but we know how to get in without setting off the alarm...It should be an interesting day.

Ireland

Rose is going to Ireland
I helped her pack on Wednesday. We made decisions about shoes and jackets, etc. She will pack some warm clothes and some summer things too. There's a workout room in the hotel and an indoor swimming pool, so she packed shorts and tee shirts . She walked me through the process of getting into her house and not setting off the alarm. .She walked me around her yard and showed me things that will need to be watered if the drought continues. She has done a beautiful job with her yard this summer. The raised garden is pretty and full of good veggies. There are tomato plants with big green tomatoes, and the beans and blueberries will be ready to harvest soon.
Gpa and I will go over a few times while she is gone to make sure everything is okay. Sam will be in England the same time they are in Ireland..so it's up to us and Andrew to keep things going.

Islamorada Fish Company

This is a great restaurant in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. A restaurant opened in Sevierville from the same chain. It is connected to the Bass Pro Shop so we took the Pruetts and checked it out yesterday. It advertised fresh seafood , and for land-locked Sevierville, it was really good . We ordered grilled shrimp and shrimp grits. I had a coupon out of the paper for a free dessert with the meal , so we had brownies with chocolate and vanilla ice cream . Then we went to their house and ate watermelon...No wonder I didn't sleep good that night..too much good food.

Doctor visit

My leg had been bothering me with the glob of tissue on my calf moving every time I walked . This is where I had the big hematoma from the car accident two years ago. Tom Kelly , my therapist, said I should go to the orthopedic doctor... On Friday I went to KOC in Powell and saw Ron Hawkins...nice young man who took a lot of time with me. He said I had a severe case of bursitis although it wasn't real painful. It was swollen and he gave me a cortisone shot to reduce the inflammation and told me to wear an ace bandage when I walk. I told him I was scared of cortisone, but he said one shot wouldn't hurt me. My leg felt better yesterday and wonderful today. I can see how people could get hooked on drugs...ha..

curtains

4th of July

gmaburka

We had a grand time yesterday. It was an impromptu fourth of July party. Last year it was the big golf tournament and everybody in the family came except Todd and Melissa. This year there was no plan...We just called Rose and told her we were available to come over and that we would put up her curtain in the dining room...Two days ago Gpa and Boys put up the new curtain in the living room and her bedroom. She had been trying to get them up for Years she says...We took bangers (that's what Paul eats in Ireland...they are white sausages) and we took our free watermelon, and stuff for s'mores...
Sam and Andrew and Gpa put up the curtain and Rose worked on the draping of it so it would fit her window. Gma is the idea and advice person on these projects...very tiring job. Rose did a good job on the curtains because she is experienced in framing work. Gnma served bangers for lunch and after the work was over ,we had watermelon and then jumped into the pool. Gpa ate 8 pieces of watermelon so he had a little tummy ache . It was so good to be with Sam and Andrew. They were with us all day ..Sam fixed wonderful baked beans for supper and Andrew grilled hamburgers.
We all watched the shuttle Discovery launch together...What a Great Fourth!!!!
